Underneath the Fleeting Clouds

Don Bryan Bunag’s first solo show opens at Art Verité

Opening on Sept. 2 is Under the Fleeting Clouds, the first solo exhibition of Don Bryan Bunag, at Art Verité (2C-05 2nd Floor, Shops at Serendra, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City). In this show, clouds coalesce into a point of contemplation and gain a central role in the narrative of the paintings. For the artist, who as a child would always look at the sky to ponder upon the heavenly formations, the clouds—in constant flux and shift and transformation—approximate life itself: never fixed in a single state but is in constant negotiation through the space in which it moves.

A multi-awarded artist, Bunag gained top honors at the PhilPost Papal Stamp Design Competition (2014), Everyone’s Vision Petron National Student Art Competition (2012 and 2013) and Cocolife Colors of Life National Student Competition (2013), among many others. In 2015, he received the Grand Prize in the Metrobank Art and Design Excellence Competition for his water-based work, “In the Land of Forsaken Promises,” a haunting elegy on personal loss as well as an allegory for a nation still in search of itself.
