Floating, weightlessness, suspension in mid-air, have all been constant themes in the works of multi-awarded Edwin Martinez since 2017. Rendered with a pervasive blue palette, his works have been described as dreamlike and deeply psychological.
Our universal experience of COVID-19 has left us disoriented. Much of what we have been accustomed to, is now outright dangerous. Breathing, which is a basic for life, is now a perilous act. Being with other people is hazardous. For the past six months, normal life seems to have been suspended and put on hold. It is as if we have been on a time loop that we all want to escape from.
